Surrey host Gloucestershire in their NatWest T20 Blast 2015 match this Wednesday with both teams desperate for a win. The Middlesex v Sussex betting tips can be found below.
In what would have been a whopping earner had you followed our tips, not only did Sussex win by seven wickets and with 28 balls to spare, Eoin Morgan and Luke Wright top-scored for their respective sides as we had predicted!
With six matches still to go for Middlesex it’s difficult to rule them out of the competition just yet but it doesn’t look too rosy for them. Two wins from eight games leaves them with a lot to do and this will be needed to be done against a team that’s soaring on the points table, Sussex.
Sussex might be third on the table for now but that’s only to do with the fact they have played two games lesser than the team at the top, Essex. Essex are on 12 points from 11 game, Kent have 11 from nine while Sussex have 11 from nine. A win here and they would have usurped Essex.
One of the reasons for Sussex’s surge on the points table has been a four-match unbeaten run. Three of those games have been won by them while one other was rained off. To add to this is the fact they have won because of different players, not just being reliant on one.
Against Hampshire, Michael Yardy controlled well with the ball and Craig Cachopa smashed a 54-ball 89 in return. Oliver Robinson and Tymal Mills did the job with the ball against Glamorgan before Chris Nash and Luke Wright hammered fifties, while Wright’s unbeaten 111 won them a stunning game against Gloucestershire.
Middlesex will hope to rely on captain Eoin Morgan but they need others to get going too if they want to stop the Sussex juggernaut.
Players to watch out for:
Paul Stirling (Middlesex):
The Irishman has been getting starts and he has converted enough number of them to be his side’s leading run-scorer with 313 runs at 52 this season. Can he get going yet again?
Luke Wright (Sussex):
With 371 runs at 53, Wright is one batsman who can take the game away from the opponents on his own as was the case against Gloucestershire. If he gets going, Middlesex will almost be left with no chance.
Middlesex v Sussex head to head:
Middlesex’s poor record in this format of the game is further accentuated against Sussex, against whom they have won just six out of the 17 matches they have played. This could just be Sussex’s 12th win against the Lord’s-based team.
Middlesex v Sussex betting tips:
Sussex to win: 4/6
Luke Wright to be Sussex’s top batsman: 3/1
Eoin Morgan to be Middlesex’s top batsman: 7/2
Match starts at 6.15 pm local time (1715 hours GMT) on July 2.
