Worcestershire will look to close their gap on the leaders when they take on Durham in their North Group game this Sunday. The Worcestershire v Durham betting tips for this NatWest T20 Blast game follow.
Worcestershire won by five wickets with an over to spare against Durham.
The hosts have been one of the in-form teams, having won six of their last eight games in the tournament. They enter this match with a victory against the much-fancied Nottinghamshire thanks to Tom Kohler-Cadmore’s 39-ball 75 and Joe Leach’s three-wicket haul in that match.
Overall though, it has been Daryll Mitchell’s consistency at the top and the bowling of Saeed Ajmal and Jack Shantry that has taken them to the position they find themselves. With 12 points in their kitty and five games in hand, they are all but sure of making the quarter-finals.
What they won’t want going into the rest of their matches is the slipping of momentum, something that could carry on with them even if they make the quarter-finals.
Durham are hanging on to the top four slot but just by the skin of their teeth. They have 10 points from 10 games, tied with Leicestershire and Lancashire for the third spot, but with Northamptonshire on nine from nine, they know they have to keep winning.
At one stage at the top of the table, Durham tumbled down when they lost some of the matches in the middle but fought back well to beat Leicestershire last game.
Egged on by captain Marcus Stoneman’s unbeaten 89, they scored 163 before John Hastings and Usman Arshad bagged three apiece to hold their opponents down to just 125. With four games still to be played, Durham know they need to win at least two to remain in contention and three to seal the deal – making this a crucial encounter for them.
Players to watch out for:
Saeed Ajmal (Worcestershire):
All his bowling action woes seem to be behind him now as Ajmal has picked up 13 wickets from seven games at 17 in this competition. How the Durham lads play this wily off-spinner could be the difference between a win and a loss.
Usman Arshad (Durham):
With 18 wickets from 10 games, Arshad is third on the list of most wickets picked in the tournament so far behind Tom Smith and Shaun Tait. He will hold the key to his side’s chances yet again as they look to try and defend whatever their batsmen can conjure up.
Worcestershire v Durham head to head:
Durham are currently leading the head to head against Worcestershire narrowly, having won three of the five matches they have played.
Worcestershire v Durham betting tips:

Kohler-Cadmore to be Worcestershire’s top batsman: 9/2
Stoneman to be Durham’s top batsman: 10/3
Match starts at 2.30 pm local time (1330 hours GMT) on July 5.
