Netherlands could have almost made it through to the World T20 without the need of this qualifier. They finished on eight points from six games, which was the same as what Scotland got in their six games to finish atop of the table.

However, what differentiated the two sides was the net run-rate and it was by the barest of margins – Scotland ended at +1.20 while Netherlands were at +1.15, thereby finishing second behind the hosts.

Netherlands’ progress to this second stage of the tournament has been brought about by an all-round effort by their batsmen and bowlers. The batting has been led by Ben Cooper and Wesley Barresi, who have both contributed to the side’s success while Roelof van der Merwe and Michael Rippon have bowled extremely well.

Namibia finished behind Ireland and Hong Kong in the table with seven points, thanks to Stephan Baard and Gerrie Snyman’s batting and Bernard Scoltz’s 10-wicket haul so far.

Synman has combined his 192 runs with seven wickets in the competition so far and could just be the man to watch out in this game.

The winner of this match will qualify for the World T20 in India while the losing team will need to either face PNG or Oman in what will be their last chance to make the tournament next year.
