Worcestershire v Hampshire Betting Tips & Predictions NatWest T20 Blast quarter-finals

The third quarter-final at the NatWest t20 Blast will see Worcestershire play host to pre-tournament favourites Hampshire at Worcester. The Worcestershire v Hampshire betting tips & predictions can be found below.

Hampshire won by 17 runs with Daryl Mitchell top-scoring for Worcestershire as we predicted.

Worcestershire ran Warwickshire close in the North Group of the competition before having to be satisfied in finishing second in the group. They ended on 19 points to Warwickshire’s 20, a one-point gap in the end when it looked quite tough at one stage for them to get that close.

Hampshire, on the other hand, had started off as pre-tournament favourites to win the title. While they did not play like the champions they were expected to, they managed to put up the required points on the board to qualify for the playoffs.

It’s interesting to look at the Worcestershire statistics. Their batting in particular. The top-scorer for them in the competition, Daryl Mitchell, has 392 runs. There are others with 356, 299, 238, 193 and 182 runs as well.

In short, it’s not like they have been dependent on one batsman alone to get them the runs on the board. At different times in the competition, different players have put their hands up and come good for them.

On the other hand, their bowling was well-served by Saeed Ajmal in the group stages, as he picked up 21 wickets from 11 matches, just two short of the leading wicket-taker, and having played a game less.

Hampshire had James Vince (534) and Michael Carberry (401) leading their run-scoring with Owais Shah chipping in with valuable runs when required. And much like Worcestershire’s batting, it was Hampshire’s bowling which operated in partnerships.

So there Yasir Arafat who picked up 17 wickets at 27, Chris Wood (17 at 25) and Danny Briggs, who bagged 15 wickets in the competition. In essence, it will be a match between a set of batsmen who can all chip in with runs and a collection of bowlers who can all get going with the ball.

Tough one to call in short, which is reflected by the bookmakers as well – Worcestershire are 1/1 while Paddy Power are offering 10/11 for a Hampshire win.
