The third quarter-final in the Royal London One Day Cup 2015 will be between Essex and Yorkshire at Chelmsford. The Essex v Yorkshire betting tips & predictions for this knock-out match can be found below.
Yorkshire won by 20 runs.
With four wins from their eight games, Essex managed to finish second in the points table, but what makes things interesting and a potential for a thriller in this game is that Yorkshire did exactly the same as ended up third.
Both teams were also benefitted by two rained-off games and that pushed them up to 10 points from their quota of eight games. Which is why it’s going to be difficult for one to predict which of these teams will go on to edge ahead.
Yes, edge ahead is the way we think the winning team will go. It won’t be easy and the match can be expected to go up and down before the final result is decided.
Essex obviously have a line-up to look out for. In Ravi Bopara they have an all-rounder who scored 284 runs at 94.66 and picked up eight wickets as well. Reese Topley grabbed 16 wickets at 18.93 and Mark Pettini scored more than 300 runs in the entire season, making it a tough side to surmount.
Yorkshire have been helped by Glenn Maxwell, who has been in some form all tournament. With a century and a couple of fifties to boot, he has been one of the rare ones to top the 300-run mark for them. The bad news? Maxwell might not be playing this as he looks to join the Aussie side for the ODI & T20I leg of their tour of England.
In the absence of Maxwell, the likes of Gary Ballance, whose time as an England international was curtailed by some poor form in Tests, will need to come good. Steven Patterson will look to add to his 12-wicket haul from the league stage of the competition.
We think Essex will make the semi-finals.
