Second seeded Swiss Roger Federer will cross paths with the German Philipp Kohlschreiber, in the round three of the US Open 2015, on Saturday evening in New York. Roger Federer v Philipp Kohlschreiber betting tips to follow in the preview.
Roger Federer had no trouble defeating Kohlschreiber to make it to the fourth round.
Continuing his excellent start at the Flushing Meadows, Federer eased into the third round by defeating the Belgian Steve Darcis 6-1, 6-2, 6-1, in a little over an hour. The Swiss produced 11 aces, while having an impeccable first serve points winning rate.
As for the German, he too had an easy game as he moved past the Czech Lukas Rosol in straight sets.
Considering his performance this season, the world no. 29 has had a decent year so far. Just before the US Open series, he won his first title in the recent weeks, in ATP Kitzbuhel, where he defeated Paul-Henri Mathieu in the final. In addition to this, he also emerged as the runner-up in the BMW Open, losing to Andy Murray.
However, he has also had spells where he was unsuccessful in moving past the initial rounds. In the Cincinnati Masters, he lost his opening match to Joao Sousa.
On the other hand, Federer is now seeking his sixth US Open title and given his form in the recent weeks, he is definitely a strong contender. The world no. 2 won the Cincinnati Masters, where he defeated Novak Djokovic in the final, and thus avenged his defeat in the final of Wimbledon at the Serbian’s hand.
Federer is considerably more experienced than his German adversary, and he should be able to see himself through to the second week comfortably.
