South Africa have played Bangladesh and New Zealand following their emotional exit at the hands of New Zealand in the World Cup. They won the two T20 games in Bangladesh and also managed to win the first ODI before the Tigers bounced back to win the next two ODIs, stunning the Proteas.

The home series against New Zealand turned out to be competitive as well with the two sides sharing the T20 trophy and South Africa winning the three-match ODI series 2-1.

Both sides were beaten in the last T20I in which they featured. While India were beaten by Zimbabwe, the Kiwis beat South Africa by a good 32-runs at Centurion in mid-August.

India will be led by regular skipper MS Dhoni in the upcoming series for the limited overs leg. The selectors have picked four spinners for the T20s including Harbhajan Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin, Amit Mishra, and Axar Patel.

They have also chosen to trust medium pacers Mohit Sharma, Sreenath Aravind, Stuart Binny, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar over the quicker bowlers. Shikhar Dhawan, Kohli, Dhoni, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina, and Rohit Sharma will provide the firepower with the bat.

Faf du Plessis is expected to be fit to lead South Africa on Saturday. Quinton de Kock, AB de Villiers, David Miller, and JP Duminy will also be on hand to help with the batting while Albie Morkel and Marchant de Lange will lead with the ball. Imran Tahir is the only frontline spinner who will be on tour with South Africa.
