Overview:

After losing the first T20 game agonizingly, Zimbabwe produced an extremely similar performance as the hosts went down by an eerily similar margin. This time too, Shahid Afridi won the toss for the visitors and Pakistan rode contributions from Umar Akmal and Sohaib Maqsood among others to finish with 136 runs.

Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Irfan began brightly as Zimbabwe lost four wickets in a blitz at the start of the chase. The writing was on the wall for the hosts but Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza showed great determination with the bat. Elton Chigumbura’s late charge was too late but Zimbabwe did well to remain in the contest until very late despite losing all those early wickets.

For the ODIs, Zimbabwe have chosen to keep the same squad of players who played the T20s. Pakistan on the other hand, have made a few changes. Afridi heads back home as Azhar Ali gets set to skipper the side. Ahmed Shehzad, Asad Shafiq, Rahat Ali, Sarfraz Ahmed, and Yasir Shah are among those who make a comeback into the side.

Pakistan beat Zimbabwe in two of the three games in Lahore in the bilateral series played in Pakistan earlier this year. They have also had success in the fifty over series at Sri Lanka after losing in Bangladesh. Zimbabwe have played India and New Zealand in two home ODI series this year and have lost on both occasions.

The visitors have an enviable record against Zimbabwe in ODIs and will look to build on the same. They have some really good players in their rank with a lot of them fighting for places in the team.

Zimbabwe v Pakistan head to head in ODIs:

The two sides have played 51 ODIs in total with Pakistan winning 45 of those games. Zimbabwe have won only on three occasions. One game had been tied while two games did not see a result.
