Sri Lanka v West Indies 2nd Test betting tips & predictions

West Indies will need to play a lot better when they take on Sri Lanka in the second Test of the series from Thursday. Get the latest Sri Lanka v West Indies 2nd Test betting tips, odds & predictions in the article below.

Overview:

Sri Lanka’s innings victory over the touring West Indies sees them take a 1-0 series lead to the P Sara Oval, for the second and final match of the short series.

For the men from the Caribbean, this will be their first Test at the venue, while for the hosts they will be playing their 19th Test match at the venue. The hosts have won eight and lost six of the games that hey have played at the P Sara Oval, with the other four fixtures ending in draws.

However, Sri Lanka have not fared so well in recent contests at the ground, winning just one of the last five Tests that they have played there, losing the other four, including their most recent appearance at the stadium, which was in August of this year, when India crushed their hosts by 278 runs.

Like most pitches in Sri Lanka, the strip at the P Sara Oval usually favours the spin bowlers, and with Rangana Herath tearing the tourists batting apart in Galle, and Tharindu Kaushal offering back up, the home side will expect to clinch a series winning victory.

The Tourists may have their own match winner in their line up, in Devendra Bishoo, but his four wickets in Galle, cost over 140 runs, and while he will be a threat, he doesn’t look a likely match winner.

If the West Indies are to register a series levelling success, it will be the first time that they have won a Test match in Sri Lanka, having played 10 times previously, with four draws their best efforts. Even an astonishing performance over the course of the three match series in 2001 by Brian Lara, and Chris Gayle’s triple century at Galle in 2010, were unable to bring the West Indies a win.

Not only will the tourists have to battle determined opponents, but also the weather, with the monsoon moving in from the northeast, and the rains usually becoming heavier as October goes on.
