The Sixers crushed the Hobart Hurricanes in a rather one-sided match.

It will be the second fixture of the campaign for the home side, who opened the season by losing the Sydney derby to the Thunder, and they will hope to get their quest for a top four finish under way against the visiting Hurricanes who will be playing their season’s opener.

The Sixers looked distinctly ordinary in the face of an onslaught by Michael Hussey at the Sydney Showgrounds, as he blazed his way to 80 not out off of just 59 deliveries. A innings that included 5 fours and 4 sixes, as he led his side to 158-4.

Not only will the Sixers look for a much improved performance from their bowlers on Sunday, but they will need their batters to come to the party as well. The lineup that contained the likes of Brad Haddin, Michael Lumb and Johan Botha could only muster 122 all out, with Lumb’s 34 being the top score.

The Hurricanes are considered amongst the favourite to take this season’s title. The squad that is skippered by Tim Paine appears to be full of runs, with Paine supported by Kumar Sangakkara who has been playing in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Daniel Christian and West Indian Darren Sammy.

The bowling attack will be led by Shaun Tait, who is still capable of some express pace bowling, and is capable of instilling fear and uncertainty amongst the opposition batting.
