Friday will be the Heat’s final home fixture of what has been a very disappointing campaign, but having finally recorded their first win of the season, in their most recent outing, at home to the Sydney Thunder, the Heat will be clinging to the hope that they can finish the season in style with three more wins.

In the unlikely event that the Brisbane based side can string together what would be four successive wins, they would finish on eight points, and have every chance of sneaking a semi-final place.

The Strikers will arrive at the Gabba having the best win to loss ratio in the tournament, having won four of their first five matches. They have already reached eight points, which is seen as the figure required to clinch a place in the knockout phase of the BBL.

The Strikers only defeat came in their third match, away to the Sydney Thunder, who were at that time riding high in the table, alongside the Strikers. Since that reverse, they have won twice more, both in Adelaide on home soil; beating the Scorchers by 36 runs and the Sydney Sixers by five wickets.

The Heat will be depending heavily on Chris Lynn to make the runs that will give them a chance to unseat the high flying visitors. Lynn is the top scorer in the BBL this season, with a total of 287 runs to his credit in five innings. He averages over 70, and has made his runs at a strike rate of 175.00.

Lynn’s battle with the Strikers’ English leg spinner, Adil Rashid, who is the joint top wicket taker, could be a battle royal, and may decide the final outcome. Rashid’s 10-wickets have come at an average of less than 15, and his economy rate is an impressive 7.20 per over.
