India v Bangladesh T20I Asia Cup 2016 Result

India will begin their Asia Cup 2016 campaign with the opening game against hosts Bangladesh on Wednesday, February 24. The match will be played at Dhaka and you can get all the India v Bangladesh T20I betting tips for this Asia Cup encounter below.

India won 45 runs

India are the form team in this format. They were crushing winners over Australia in Australia, winning the series 3-0 before going on to overcome Sri Lanka at home by a 2-1 scoreline.

They could well have whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0 as well but for a pitch in the first game of that match-up which was so grass-laden that it could have made an English curator proud.

That being said, it must also be remembered that Sri Lanka were playing with an inexperienced side, one that was missing a lot of its top stars because of fitness issues. Now India will be taking on Bangladesh in Bangladesh and recent history has proved that hasn’t been a very easy proposition for any team.

What will also be an issue is the injury to MS Dhoni, who suffered a back spasm, leading the selectors to name Parthiv Patel as a back-up keeper. If Dhoni misses out, a vital cog could go missing down the order and make life tougher for the Indians.

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan will continue to open for India while Virat Kohli is a surety at three. It will be interesting to see, however, if India play Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane was a part of the XI in the Sri Lanka series but that was when Kohli was rested.

Bangladesh might have shown a drastic improvement in their ODI form but their T20I run-in hasn’t been the best in recent times.

They were held to a 2-2 draw by Zimbabwe in a recent T20I series at home after having won the first two games and have won just four of their previous 14 T20Is.

It’s a record that captain Mashrafe Mortaza will want to change around quite quickly and in order to that, the hosts will need the likes of Shakib al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim to come good.

What will also be interesting to watch is if Mustafizur Rahman would be able to replicate his form from 2015 in this series, having notched up an early-career bowling average of 14.5, 12.34 and 14.9 across the three formats of the game.

We still think India will start favourites to win this game with Shikhar Dhawan in line to top-score for India.
