West Indies have had a remarkable T20 season this year, having won the World Cup. As the momentum now shifts to the one day internationals, the hosts will be eager to create similar feats in this format of the competition as well. However, seeing that they are ranked at the eighth place in the international rankings, building up on their previous success will be a tough task for them.

Considering that their last ODI match was against Sri Lanka in November (which they had lost), it will be interesting to see what strategies they adopt to improve their chances against a strong looking squad of the Proteas. The selectors decided to leave out Chris Gayle, Andre Russell and Dwayne Bravo – all of whom had a sensational run in the recently concluded Indian Premier League.

Instead, they will be relying on the likes of Sunil Narine and Kieron Pollard to lead the charge. The team will be lead by the young Jason Holder, as the country looks forward to the young man taking his men through to win.

However, he has got his work cut out for him, seeing that the batting line-up of the visitors looks highly intimidating. With AB De Villiers, Hashim Amla and Quentin de Kock dominating the opening attack, the opposing bowlers will have a lot to worry about. Nonetheless, the pressure is on for South Africa too, who are on the track to recover from one of their worst spells in their cricket history.

With Dale Steyn out to play county cricket, Morne Morkel and Chris Morris are going to lead the bowling charge. Imran Tahir will certainly be brought in to compliment their bowling, as they look to get started on the right note.

This is going to be a great match to watch, and the odds are certainly with the Proteas. They have a much more experienced squad for this format and they should win this one comfortably.
