The fifth ODI between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe will be played on February 19, at the Sharjah Cricket Ground in Sharjah. Latest Afghanistan v Zimbabwe betting tips & predictions for this fourth ODI can be found below.
With the series already lost, Zimbabwe will look for a consolation win when they take on Afghanistan in the final ODI. The fourth game saw Afghanistan run through the Zimbabwe batting and bowl them out for 134 before raking up the runs for no loss and with 29 overs to spare.
In the third ODI of the series, Zimbabwe had been bowled out for a paltry 154 batting first with Rashid Khan picking up five wickets. In reply, Afghanistan stuttered a tad but scored the required runs for the loss of four wickets and with 22.3 overs to spare.
Earlier, two matches into the series and it’s level at one game apiece. What makes for an interesting reading is that both matches were won by the team batting first and by the same margin of 154 runs.
That’s not all. Both games saw the teams batting first and second score the same number of runs – 333 and 179 respectively. If this isn’t a huge coincidence then one cannot be sure what is!
That aside, the matches have been won easily, which could change in this game now that both sides look to have sussed each other out. The batsmen might find it slightly more difficult in this game and while one can expect them to score more than 250, it’s doubtful they will touch a score of 333 again.
Despite Brendan Taylor’s century, we feel the batsman to watch out will be Sikandar Raza, and combined with his bowling, he could earn a good number of points on bet365’s Player Performance Table.
Afghanistan will need their batting to come good but what would have surprised them is their bowling in the previous game which was taken apart for aplenty – apart from Rashid Khan who finished with figures of 2/36 from his 10 overs, the rest of the line-up struggled. Dawlat Zadran conceded 96 from his 10.
For Afghanistan, Rahmat Shah’s batting form is good news. After scoring a century in the first ODI, he followed it up with 43 in the second, their lone hand in trying circumstances.
With the World Cup Qualifiers to be played soon enough, this game and the rest of the series will be watched by keen interest by fans of both sides. We think Afghanistan hold the edge but at 4/11, we will look to avoid those odds.
