Champions Trophy betting tips

England v New Zealand betting tips for Champions Trophy 2017 are placed in this article. England will hope to put it across New Zealand to book their place in the semi-finals when the two teams meet on Tuesday in their 2017 Champions Trophy encounter.

Venue: Sofia Gardens, Cardiff
Time: 10.30 am local (3 pm India time)

Current situation:

England were easy winners in their first game against Bangladesh. They did suffer the early loss of Chris Woakes and then needed to recover quickly to stall the Bangladeshi innings following the partnership between Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim.

However, once they had restricted them to 305, they were always in front given the strength of their batting and Joe Root’s century saw them through to a facile win.

New Zealand will count themselves unfortunate in their opener. They should have managed to garner two points for their performance against Australia but rain had the final say.

The good news for them was the presence of Kane Williamson who helped himself to a century and then an excellent bowling showing saw them bag three Aussie wickets for 53 before the rain came down.

Chris Woakes is the obvious out for England who got injured in the previous game, suffering a side strain after bowling just two overs in the encounter. The management will look to bring in David Willey into the playing XI as a like for like replacement while they hunt for a replacement for Woakes in the squad.

The other question is if Adil Rashid will be brought in for the struggling Jake Ball. Despite Jason Roy’s poor form, he will continue to get a game for England.

England’s expected playing XI:
Jason Roy, Alex Hales, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, David Willey, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Liam Plunkett.

New Zealand had a decent opening game against Australia which ended up abandoned because of rain but they would be feeling aggrieved given they were obvious favourites to win it after having reduced Australia to 53 for three chasing a million runs.

What they might want to have a look at is their middle-order batting but it could well be an approach change than a personnel change.

New Zealand’s expected playing XI:
Martin Guptill, Luke Ronchi, Ross Taylor, Kane Williamson, Neil Broom/Colin de Grandhomme, Corey Anderson, Jimmy Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Mitchell McClenaghan.
