The Bundesliga in Germany continues this weekend as the football action now heads into the match week 23.
Defending champions Bayern Munich are comfortably sitting at the top of the table with 59 points, as they move swiftly to conquering yet another Bundesliga trophy. However, considering their Champions League campaign, they have got a difficult fixture as they take on the Italian champions Juventus on Tuesday evening. Nonetheless, it shouldn’t affect their run in the German football as they visit Wolfsburg on Saturday.
Having won the last leg by 3-1, Munich are definitely in line for yet another win here. It will be a difficult task for Wolfsburg to tame the dangerous attack which is led by Robert Lewandowski.
Following them are Borussia Dortmund, are lag behind by eight points. However, their focus will be on the Europa League fixture against the Portuguese side Porto on Thursday evening, as Thomas Tuchel will look to make his mark on the European football. Under him, the players have thrived wonderfully Marco Reus and Pierre Aubameyang finding their rhythm.
Following the match against Porto, they will go up against the 17th placed Hoffenheim on Sunday. Needless to mention, Dortmund are certainly the favorite ones here to win, and should continue their campaign without any troubles.
It is fair to say that Dortmund and Munich are in a league completely of their own, seeing that the third placed side Hertha BSC are in the league with just 36 points. Behind them are five other sides, which lag behind by just a few points.
This weekend, Hertha BSC will take on the ninth placed Koln, while the fourth placed Bayer Leverkusen will head into a match against the seventh placed Mainz 05. The difference between the two sides is that of just two points, but Leverkusen will be eager to get the win here.
Here’re the German Bundesliga betting tips for 2017-18 season match-week 1:
A 24th German Bundesliga to Bayern Munich’s name and the title was won in grand style last season with ten points separating them from second placed Wolfsburg. Their season, however, did not end on the majestic note they would have hoped for with defeats in the DFB Pokal and the Champions League semi-finals.
But a season break is just what giants like Bayern need to an already well-oiled machinery and they will look to kick-start their new campaign with renewed hope of the famous treble they missed out on last season.
Then again, competition as they say gets tougher with each passing season. And this time, it’s going to be from all quarters from the likes of Wolfsburg, Borussia Moenchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen and traditional contenders as Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04.
And with the exciting transfer markets around the corner, we always know that reinforcements are certainly in order with most of the big names.
The 2014-15 player of the season, Kevin De Bruyne was a revelation at Wolfsburg last season as they capped off their season with a fine win over Borussia Dortmund to lift the DFB Pokal. Now they will set their sights on the Bundesliga and it must be said that they look very good under coach Dieter Hecking to challenge for all the top honours this season.
Speaking about managers, Borussia Dortmund will have a new manager in Thomas Tuchel this season and all eyes will be on the transfers in and out of the squad with players like İlkay Gündoğan, Ciro Immobile and Mats Hummels all linked with a move away from the Westfalenstadion. But the fans will want to get back to where they truly belong and put a disappointing season behind them and look forward to a new reign under a new manager.
Bayer Leverkusen who played some of the most entertaining football last season will again be in the mix for Champions League qualification spots this season but it remains to be seen however if they can challenge for the league title. New signings such as Admir Mehmedi will bolster their squad and coach Roger Schmidt will still look to bring in one or two more players to strengthen his squad.
Schalke 04 have a new manager to their 2015-16 season in Andre Breitenreiter after Roberto Di Matteo left the position after failing to qualify for Champions League last season, and they’re in the market for players to strengthen their squad and challenge for top positions.
But the dark horse for this season, surely, has to be Borussia Moenchengladbach who finished strongly last season and qualified for the Champions League. And they’ve made their intentions quite clear with their new signing of striker Josip Drmic from Bayer 04 Leverkusen.
The newcomers to the league are Ingolstadt 04 and Darmstadt 98 and the footballing season is going to be just as exciting as ever in Germany. The question, however, remains if the undisputed kings of German football will be toppled this time around? And if so, by whom?
