Masters Champions League – MCL Betting Tips

The first ever edition of the Masters Champions League will be played from February 2016 with some of the biggest greats from yester-years to be a part of this tournament. The latest Masters Champions League betting tips will be updated below once bookmakers open the markets for the same.

The tournament, or MCL as it is called, will see a host of former greats like Adam Gilchrist, Brian Lara and Jacques Kallis participate in its first edition with UAE being the venue for the competition. In recent news, Virender Sehwag seems to have also confirmed he will participate in the tournament after retiring from international cricket.

Major Events are the organisers of the MCL, and it was unveiled at the Burj Al Arab on June 3. Lara, Gilchrist and Kallis were present at the launch as was former Pakistan speedster Wasim Akram. Australia’s first ever World Cup-winning captain Allan Border and former England skipper Graham Gooch are two of the members of the MCL governing council.

The six teams in action are Libra Legends, Gemini Arabians, Capricorn Commanders, Leo Lions, Virgo Super Kings and Sagittarius Strikers.

Format of the Masters Champions League:
While details on the format are still awaited, the information that’s available is that there are six teams which will participate in the MCL with each side having 15 former players. The matches between these teams will be played at the three grounds in the UAE, Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Shaikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

Each team will play the other five in T20 matches the tournament once with the top four making it to the semi-finals but those details are yet to be actually revealed.

The main purpose behind the conception of this league is said to be to allow fans to continue watching some of the former greats even after retirement.

Earlier, former Aussie batsman Dean Jones had tweeted about the MCL, revealing the tournament will be played over the next 10 years. Interestingly, there were reports earlier that the pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Shane Warne were going to launch their own Masters league in the USA, and it now remains to be seen whether they will go ahead with the plans and if those two will be competing leagues.

Also announced in recent news is that there are a total of around 260 players who have been signed up for the MCL auction for the first edition of the tournament. This includes the recently retired players and other cricketers from Associate and Affiliate countries as well.
