It was a 226-run pounding for West Indies in the first Test as they beat the higher-ranked Sri Lankan side to go 1-0 up in the series.
It wasn’t quite an underdog winning a Test given all the issues that Sri Lanka have gone through in recent times but not too many would have given Windies the chance to win it so convincingly.
As mentioned earlier, it’s a match-up that might not produce the best cricketing action but there will be enough on offer to suggest it could be some hard-fought cricket. Both teams have struggled in recent times in this format of the game, with Sri Lanka sixth in the rankings and West Indies a measly ninth.
What has probably also added to both teams’ issues is the way things have gone in their respective cricket boards and the lack of focus on grassroots cricket has been a big enough challenge for them. That said, this could lead to some exciting cricket and hence, there might be some excellent markets to bet on.
West Indies v Sri Lanka Betting Tips for 2nd Test:
It’s very interesting to note that West Indies and Sri Lanka have played just 17 Tests before this. The overall head to head is 8-3 in favour of Sri Lanka, given most of these Test matches came after the Windies peak had gone behind them.
The last time these two sides played against each other was in Sri Lanka in 2015 and Sri Lanka had crushed Windies 2-0. West Indies’ last win over Sri Lanka came way back in 2008.
Sri Lanka are being led by Dinesh Chandimal and will hope Angelo Mathews overcomes his fitness issues to play long and hard while the younger likes of Kusal Mendis and Roshen Silva can continue from where they have left off earlier.
Windies skipper Jason Holder is just about holding to his spot in the side and would like to lead from the front.
